January 6, 2026(1 event) 8:30 am: NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course –
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course consisting of instruction and a hands-on practical portion at the range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA Certified Instructor. This course is eight hours and is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation. Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting and pistol inspection and maintenance. January 8, 2026(1 event) 6:00 pm: Women's Fun Shoot Oak Tree Gun Club – Oak Tree Gun Club has a Women's Only Fun Shoot the second Thursday of the month. Start time is 6pm till 9pm. Fun shooting paper and steel. Keep track of your time to knock steel plates down. Female Instructors there to help. |

January 12, 2026(1 event) 8:30 am: NRA Pistol Instructor Course – ![]() ![]() ![]() This 16-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, promoting, and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course. Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a prerequisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire that will be emailed to candidates after they register for the course. The first part of day two will be live fire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises (shooting requirements and manipulation of firearm to clear malfunctions). Description: The course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training, and discipline-specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course and complete an instructor certification examination. |
