Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.
Prerequisite: This course is for law-abiding adult citizens and experienced shooters Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate. Description: This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.
This 9-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching the NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home course.
Prerequisites: Must be an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.
Description: Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Instructor Candidate Packet.
1st Thursday of the Month, Rifle and Pistol Fun Shoot! Come down and sharpen your skills, with variable range, rapid fire cardboard and steel targets. Make sure to bring spare mags, as most courses will involve a reload (or two!). Ammo and rentals available on-site!
Oak Tree Gun Club has a Women's Only Fun Shoot the second Thursday of the month. Start time is 6pm till 9pm. Fun shooting paper and steel. Keep track of your time to knock steel plates down. Female Instructors there to help.
This 8-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to training and supervising NRA range safety officers and developing range standard operating procedures.
Prerequisite: Must be an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. Sessions include standard operating procedures, inspections, emergency procedures, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, safety briefings. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises and complete an open book exam. Students will receive NRA Basic Range Safety Officer lesson plans, basic student packet and basic course presentation CD.
On the 3rd Thursday of the month Oak Tree Gun Club host a head to head pistol fun shoot. See how fast and accurate you are. Fun shoot starts at 6pm and goes till 9pm. It is a lot of fun with some competition.
