1st Thursday of the Month, Rifle and Pistol Fun Shoot! Come down and sharpen your skills, with variable range, rapid fire cardboard and steel targets. Make sure to bring spare mags, as most courses will involve a reload (or two!). Ammo and rentals available on-site!

AR-15 Fundamentals

The USCCA’s AR-15 Fundamentals: This course is designed to introduce responsible gun owners to the safe handling, proper maintenance and effective use of AR-15 style rifles and to bring awareness to the usefulness of the platform in the context of civilian home defense and defense of life.

Instructor-led range time including safety essentials, confirmation of zero, and use/operation of an AR-15; students will work on drills that incorporate dry-fire and live fire with kinesthetic alignment, mechanical offset (and the application of holdover), along with the balance of speed and precision shooting.

What do you need to bring:
Your AR-15
Sling 2 point is preferred
3+ Magazines
300 Rounds of Ammo
Magazine Pouch
Hearing Protection (Electronic preferred)
Eye Protection
Clothing that allows user to shoot in Kneeling/Prone Positions.

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. The NRA CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end and may be conducted in a classroom and on a shooting range with an instructor.

NRA CCW takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment. This course is a two-day event. Course topics include: Firearm Safety (Mandatory), Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense, Basic Defensive Pistol Skills, Drawing from Concealment, Loading and Stoppage Remediation, Mindset, Carry Modes and Pistol Concealment, Firearm Cleaning, and Sport Shooting and Training Activities. Course length is determined by the Instructor, to meet your State’s requirements for a CCW permit. Additionally, students may complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

NRA First Step Pistol Orientation

Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training — is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers.

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

NRA Basic Rifle Course

The NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course consisting of instruction and a hands-on practical portion at the range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA Certified Instructor. This course is eight hours of instruction in the Basic of Rifle Shooting NRA book, exam and hands on shooting.
Some of the topics in the course include: rifle safety, parts, operation, ammunition, fundamentals of rifle shooting, cleaning, storage, and training opportunities.

Course Goal: To teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a rifle safely.
To qualify for the class you need to be 21 years or older. If you are under 21 please contact Chuck Sparks.

Defensive Pistol Level 2: Learn techniques, practice your skills in defensive shooting. This is not a basic course. You must know how to clear stoppages and malfunctions. Know what defensive shooting is (point shot, flash sight, sighted picture). you will learn to draw from a holster. You  will need Hearing and Eye Protection, minimum 4 magazines, magazine holsters, Strong side holster at 3 or nine o clock. approx. 250 rounds of ammo.

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
Description: Course is presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training, and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Rifle Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet.

Prerequisite: Must be a current Certified Pistol Instructor as a perquisite for certification as an NRA CCW instructor. This certification is not available to Apprentice or Assistant Pistol Instructors, and the Law Enforcement Division Handgun Instructor is not a substitute.

Description: Course may be presented in three parts: Basic Instructor Training, discipline specific instructor training and the Live-Fire Range instructor training. Instructor Candidates demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and must pass a written instructor certification examination. Additionally, the Instructor Candidates must pass the CCW Instructor Level shooting qualification Course of Fire. The NRA CCW Instructor Course will focus on developing the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for Instructor Candidates to teach carrying and using a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the Instructor Candidate will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal defense, clearing common stoppages, and more. This course is only conducted by NRA Certified CCW Training Counselors.
