    First Thursday of the month 6pm to 9pm a 3 Gun Fun Shoot on the Rifle Range at Oak Tree Gun Club. Manager and Chief Range Safety Officer Savage sets up a different stage each month. Stages are set up to improve your skills and are fun to shoot. Bring your Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun to give it a try. If you do not have those, Oak Tree has rentals.

    Women Fun Shoot at Oak Tree Gun Club. This event happens the 2nd Thursday of the month. It is a time for women to get together and bond while shooting and having a good time. No skill level is needed. From brand new to experienced shooters. Stages will be set up to improve your skill level that are challenging and fun to shot. Cheri Sparks is a NRA/USCCA instructor and NRA Range Safety Officer and she is there help. Bring your pistol or rent at the Pro Shop and enjoy the fun.

    NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course
    Course Goal: To teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Some of the topics in the course includes; gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting and pistol inspection and maintenance. During the training of the course, an NRA Certified Instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling, loading, and unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire; and final shooting qualification.

    NRA Personal Protection Inside The Home Course

    Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.

    Prerequisite: This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm). Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate.

    Oak Tree Pistol Fun Shoot
    On the 3rd Thursday of the month Pistol Fun Shoot. Located at the Pistol Range. Different stages are set up monthly to practice your shooting skills. It can be just you shooting to improve your own times or could be a head-to-head competition. This event is for fun and to develop your shooting skills. Each month stages are decided on and set up by NRA Certified Instructors and NRA Certified Range Safety Officers (RSO’s). During the event they are there to run the event and keep everyone safe and help you with anything that you may need to improve your skills. Come Join and have some fun.

    You will get classroom instruction which will get instructions on Universal Safety Rules, clearing a firearm, your eye dominance, shooting fundamentals and then learn how to dry practice with a firearm then live fire at the range.

    In this introduction module, Beth Alcazar introduces students to the basics of handgun safety, including how to safely clear (unload) a semi-automatic pistol. Alcazar goes on to explain and demonstrate the seven basic fundamentals for safe and accurate shooting. The lesson is rounded out by taking those basics, and putting them into practice both in the classroom and on the shooting range. This lesson will act as a building block as the student progresses to Women’s Intermediate Pistol.

    NRA Women On Target Instructional Clinics provide a thorough introduction to firearm safety, handling, and shooting skills. In this clinic, we will be going over handguns. Instructed by Certified NRA Instructors and Range Safety Officers. Clinic Consist of; Firearms Safety, Parts, Operation, Ammunition, Fundamentals of Shooting, Live Fire Exercise, and NRA Continued Training Opportunities. Agenda: 8:00-8:30 a.m. Sign-in, 8:30-12:00 noon Classroom instruction (NRA certified instructors), 12:00 noon – 1:00 Lunch, 1:00 – 4:00 pm Round Robin at A Place To Shoot. Cost: $75.00 (pre-registration required). Cost includes the use of firearms, targets, and ammunition. The clinic is rain or shine. Note: Clinic is limited to 20 participants. Payment is required to confirm a spot in the clinic. Free goody bags for all participants. If you want to bring your own handgun after the clinic one of the instructors can go over the operation of your gun with you.

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a prerequisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire that will be emailed to candidates after they register for the course. The first part of day two will be live fire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises (shooting requirements and manipulation of firearm to clear malfunctions). Description: The course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training, and discipline-specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course and complete an instructor certification examination.

    Course starts at 9am and will run till 12pm. This        course is designed to introduce responsible gun owners to the safe handling, proper maintenance and effective use of AR-15 style rifles and to bring awareness to the usefulness of the platform in the context of civilian home defense and defense of life. Classroom instruction covers topics such as basic AR-15 nomenclature and function, cleaning and maintenance, and accessorizing the AR-15, while live-range instruction will provide students with an understanding of how to safely and effectively operate an AR-15, confirm zero, and engage in practical and cumulative drills.
