First Thursday of the month 6pm to 9pm a 3 Gun Fun Shoot on the Rifle Range at Oak Tree Gun Club. Manager and Chief Range Safety Officer Savage sets up a different stage each month. Stages are set up to improve your skills and are fun to shoot. Bring your Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun to give it a try. If you do not have those, Oak Tree has rentals.

Women Fun Shoot at Oak Tree Gun Club. This event happens the 2nd Thursday of the month. It is a time for women to get together and bond while shooting and having a good time. No skill level is needed. From brand new to experienced shooters. Stages will be set up to improve your skill level that are challenging and fun to shot. Cheri Sparks is a NRA/USCCA instructor and NRA Range Safety Officer and she is there help. Bring your pistol or rent at the Pro Shop and enjoy the fun.

8:00 am: NRA Basic Rifle

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.

This course is at least 14 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

6:00 pm: Oak Tree Pistol Fun Shoot

Oak Tree Pistol Fun Shoot
On the 3rd Thursday of the month Pistol Fun Shoot. Located at the Pistol Range. Different stages are set up monthly to practice your shooting skills. It can be just you shooting to improve your own times or could be a head-to-head competition. This event is for fun and to develop your shooting skills. Each month stages are decided on and set up by NRA Certified Instructors and NRA Certified Range Safety Officers (RSO’s). During the event they are there to run the event and keep everyone safe and help you with anything that you may need to improve your skills. Come Join and have some fun.

9:00 am: California Hunter Education Instructor Led

This is a one day, 10-hour course (2 hours credit given for Homework completed in the back of the book) 8 hours spent in the classroom.
Class Fee is $25.00 Cash, Check, Zelle, Venmo, or Credit Card through Stripe.
Requirements
Important All students are required to obtain a California Get Outdoors ID (GO ID) prior to registering for California Hunter Education courses. If you have previously held a CDFW license (i.e. Fishing), your GO ID is printed on the license above your name. Click here to get a GO ID. Click here for instructions.
All students must download, print, and sign a Student Consent Form. Students 17 years of age and younger must have the form signed by a parent or guardian. The signed form must be brought to class.
In order to be certified the student must attend the entire class including all sessions. Students will need to show safe handling of firearms and pass the Hunter Education test with a score of 80% or better. There is no minimum age to attend California Hunter Education. Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend with young students, especially those younger than age 16, to help define new words or provide additional tutoring during and after class.

This 16-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Rifle Shooting course.

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
Description: Course is presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training, and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Rifle Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet and NRA Basic Rifle Shooting course student packet.

Explore our AR-15 course specifically designed for civilian use. This curriculum is live-fire training, with a focus on learning how to use an AR-15 for home and self-defense. This course has something for everyone. For those new to the world of AR's you'll learn proper maintenance, operation, and accessory selection. Seasoned shooters will walk away with a better understanding of a proper zero, importance of round trajectory, and mechanical offset for close encounters. Come join us at Oak Tree Gun Club, on March 29, 2043 for our next AR-15 Fundamentals class.

8:00 am: NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Led

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course consisting of instruction and a hands-on practical portion at the range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA Certified Instructor. This course is eight hours and is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation.

Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting and pistol inspection and maintenance.
During the training of the course, an NRA Certified Instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling, loading and unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire; and a final shooting qualification.
