DESCRIPTION:The Tactical Shotgun Fundamentals course is designed to introduce responsible gun owners to the safe handling\, proper maintenance and effective use of a tactical Shotgun and to bring awareness to the usefulness of the platform in the context of civilian home defense and defense of life. Classroom instruction covers topics such as basic shotgun nomenclature and function\, cleaning and maintenance\, and accessorizing the tactical shotgun\, while live-range instruction will provide students with an understanding of how to safely and effectively operate a Tactical Shotgun\, confirm zero\, understand shot pattern\, holdover\, and what ammo you will use and how that can affect your shot pattern or zero. You will engage in practical and cumulative drills. \nInstructor-led range time including safety essentials\, confirmation of zero\, and use/operation of a tactical shotgun; students will work on drills that incorporate dry-fire and live fire with kinesthetic alignment\, shot pattern (and the application of holdover)\, along with the balance of speed and precision shooting. This shooting course is a high round count on ammunition.

Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety rules\, sight over bore\, shotgun patterning\, zeroing your shotgun\, choke and choke tubs\, proper way to load and unload your shotgun\, and what ammunition you use\, grouping and effectiveness. There will be short classroom PowerPoint and live fire portion.   \nCourse Goal: To give you basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude to use your shotgun effectively. The knowledge to make sound decisions on what ammunition to use for what purpose. Is your shotgun set up for what you want to do with it. \nTo qualify for the class you need to be 21 years or older. DESCRIPTION:This is a one day\, 10-hour course (2 hours credit given for Homework completed in the back of the book) 8 hours spent in the classroom.\nClass Fee is $25.00 Cash\, Check\, Zelle\, Venmo\, or Credit Card through Stripe.\nRequirements\nImportant All students are required to obtain a California Get Outdoors ID (GO ID) prior to registering for California Hunter Education courses. If you have previously held a CDFW license (i.e. Fishing)\, your GO ID is printed on the license above your name. Click here to get a GO ID. Click here for instructions.\nAll students must download\, print\, and sign a Student Consent Form. Students 17 years of age and younger must have the form signed by a parent or guardian. The signed form must be brought to class.\nIn order to be certified the student must attend the entire class including all sessions. Students will need to show safe handling of firearms and pass the Hunter Education test with a score of 80% or better. There is no minimum age to attend California Hunter Education.
